STARTING THERAPY

What to Expect From Therapy

Starting therapy is a big step.

It’s completely normal to have questions before your first appointment. Here’s what you can expect from the process, from reaching out for the first time to settling into ongoing therapy.

What Starting Therapy Looks Like

Reach Out

When you’re ready, you can contact me through my website, email, or phone. We’ll find a time that works for you and answer any questions you have before getting started.

You’ll also complete some brief intake paperwork through the secure client portal before your first appointment.

Your First Session

Your first session is a chance to get to know each other and talk about what brought you to therapy. There’s no pressure to have everything figured out or share your whole story at once.

We’ll focus on what feels most important to you and decide together where to begin.

Moving Forward Together

As we continue, we’ll build on what we learn together and focus on the changes you’d like to make. Therapy will be shaped around your goals, needs, and what feels most helpful to you.

We’ll check in along the way and adjust our work as your needs change.

It’s Okay If…

You’re nervous about starting.

You feel emotional
or overwhelmed.

You don’t know where to start.

You’re not ready to talk about everything.

Therapy feels new
or unfamiliar.

You are welcome here, exactly as you are.
